Recognizing the Signs of a Crisis

A mental health crisis can be anything that feels too hard, scary, or unsafe to handle alone. If something feels like a crisis to you, it is. You don’t need a diagnosis or to meet any special rules to get help.

In Adults

  • Withdrawing or isolating
  • Major changes in mood or behavior
  • Loss of interest in normal routines
  • Changes in sleep patterns
  • Aggression or harmful behavior
  • Persistent fear, worry, or sadness

In Youth

  • Sudden changes in mood or personality
  • Intense or unmanaged anger
  • Avoiding friends, school, or daily activities
  • Increased risk-taking or self-harm
  • Bullying or being bullied
  • Emotional outbursts that are hard to control

If you recognize these signs in yourself or someone you know, support is available. Call us at (509) 662-7105 for rapid, in-person support.

What Does Help Look Like?

Mental health crisis care includes:

  • Help to calm strong feelings and feel safe again
  • Planning for safety and next steps
  • Peer support and help finding other services
  • Connections to long-term care if you need it

Law enforcement is only involved if it’s needed to keep everyone safe and if you agree to their help.

A Safe Alternative to the Emergecy Room

Not every mental health crisis requires going to the hospital. Our trained staff can help you right away, no matter what you’re feeling or experiencing.
